Breaking: Deaths, Injuries as Explosion Rocks Nigeria’s Defence Industries

There was tragedy at the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) in Kaduna as an explosion suspected to have happened from the production of gunpowder, killing two persons on Saturday, September 20.

Among the dead was a military officer, and four other persons were reportedly injured. The explosion occurred at the DICON factory, which is located at the Kurmin Gwari area of Kaduna metropolis, during a weekend shift.

The Punch reported that residents living around the factory explained that the explosion was powerful and shook buildings in the area. This has triggered panic as many are on the run for their safety.

One of the residents who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, “Initially, we thought it was a bomb explosion, but later we learnt it was from the factory.”
