BREAKING: Facebook, Instagram down for millions of users across globe, Meta reacts

  • Meta has reacted to the global logout being experienced by users of its social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram, on Tuesday
  • It was learnt that some users were able to access their accounts within an hour of the incident, which had affected many businesses
  • However, some X users who reacted to Andy Stone’s post about the development said it does not speak well of Meta to talk to its users on a competitor’s platform

Instagram and Facebook are down, and millions of users on the social media platforms in the world experienced on Tuesday, March 5.

According to Reuters, outage tracking website confirmed the development.

The website noted that no less than hundreds of thousands of users on Facebook and Instagram could not access their accounts as a result of the incident.

Meta reacts as Facebook and Instagram go down globally

In a tweet by Andy Stone, the spokesperson of Meta, the mother company of Facebook and Instagram, tweeted on X social media, saying:

“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,”

According to CNN, several affected users on Facebook and Instagram had begun to fall within an hour of experiencing the logouts.

Some users found that they had been logged out of their Facebook accounts, while others were notified on Instagram that “something went wrong” and their feeds could not load.

Meta speaks to users on the competitor’s platform

Some users have taken to the comment session of Stone on X to react to the tweet.

Shunyaa00 wondered why Meta would use its competitor’s platform to inform its users of the current challenges. The user wrote:

“META using X to let their users know that Facebook and Instagram are down.”

Another user, thatninetykid, said:

“Y’all doing elections interference harder this year”

StockMKTNewz commented:

“For a minute, I thought it was me getting banned or something.”

Cool Christian Engineer tweeted:

“It is so hilarious that you’re telling us through another platform—that is your competitor and it’s destroying meta.”
