BREAKING: Tragedy As Nigerian Gov’s Deputy Chief of Staff Dies, Details Emerge

On Wednesday, May 15, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State announced the passing of his Deputy Chief of Staff (DCoS), Gboyega Soyannwo.

As reported by The Punch, Soyannwo died on Wednesday, after a brief illness. He was aged 55.

As reported also by Vanguard, the death was announced in a statement signed by the state’s commissioner for information and strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso.

The governor in a post sigthed by Legit.ng on Wednesday, and shared on his X page, wrote:

“It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of my Deputy Chief of Staff, Gboyega Soyannwo. I am devastated by Gboyega’s sudden departure and I’m deeply affected by this news.

“Gboyega was not only my Deputy Chief of Staff by title; he was a brother to me, an armour-bearer, a confidante and a faithful believer in our collective dream of a Greater Lagos.

“His total dedication and service to Lagos State will never be forgotten. My prayers are with his beloved wife, Yewande and their children during this difficult time.

“I trust that God Almighty will give us beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for this present mourning and a garment of praise for this present spirit of heaviness.

Legit.ng understands that the late Gboyega Soyannwo is survived by a wife and two children.

Borno Governor Zulum loses special adviser

In a similar development, Legit.ng reported that on Saturday, May 4, the special adviser to Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state on community relations, Chief Kester Ogualili, passed on.

Ogualili passed away at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital after a protracted illness.

The deceased, who hailed from Dunukofia local government area of Anambra state, lived most of his life in Borno.
