Coalition and the 2027 election

The coalition, earlier championed by the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, was positioning itself as the alternative for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 election and vowed to sack President Tinubu through the poll.

In actualising the party’s objective, Aregbesola started his mobilisation from the grassroots, and the meeting was part of the larger agenda to ensure that President Tinubu did not return to office come 2027. This was disclosed in a tweet by Atiku’s media aide, Ademola Rasheed, who explained that the meeting was held over the weekend.

This is as Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna state, took a similar move to sack President Tinubu in the 2027 election when he led the grassroots mobilisation under the coalition ADC.

The former governor is a prominent member of the emerging alliance and was on a mission to gather support for the party. He described his action as a patriotic one to rescue Nigeria from the grip of “nepotism” and “incompetence”.

How many events did El-Rufai attend in Sokoto?

During his visit to Sokoto, the former governor attended two important events meant to sensitise the people and political stakeholders working to achieve the agenda of sacking President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general election.

During his address at the event, the former governor lambasted the ruling party and called the APC “a failed, clannish, and visionless administration that has plunged Nigeria into deeper socio-economic misery.”

He declared that it was time for Nigerians to rise against the APC and accused the party of “broken promises and elite conspiracy”. He warned that any move to vote for the APC beyond 2027 would be a greater doom for the country

The former governor argued that the coalition was full of technocrats, progressives, former governors, lawmakers, and civil society players who have resolved to rescue Nigeria from the APC and President Tinubu.
